August 2026 version 1.0.8

The August release contains some important changes and is thus delivered via a package update from the Microsoft Marketplace.

Please refer to the following instructions for updating the app in your tenant: How to update Sintel Apps

Form theme Import/Export

Within the Sintel Apps Designer you can now Export and Import a form theme which makes it really easy to consistently brand forms across your organisation.

Form fields placeholder setting

All fields now have a placeholder setting which enables you to define some default text to appear in them.

Allow setting a SharePoint-required field to read-only

Fields that are mandatory in a SharePoint list can now be made read-only within the form. This is particularly useful when upgrading a pre-existing list to use Sintel Apps without having to modify the settings of the existing fields in the list.

Allow creating lookup lists from designer

Lookup lists can be created directly from within the Sintel Apps designer which speeds up and simplifies the design process.

Logic – Step – Field – set value

Field values can now be set directly without the need to write JavaScript i.e configure it rather than code it.

Email editor – redesign

Significant improvements have been made to the email editor which make it much easier when defining emails on actions and workflow statuses.

Add possibility to open editor in after save script

After save code edit box now allows to open a popup with the code to make editing more convenient via “open editor” link.

Add ability to copy text from lookup fields and dropdowns

You can now copy the value selected in both lookup fields and dropdowns making the process of copying out data from forms much easier.

JS API – exitForm method

A new JS API method to close the form without saving with optional options: exitForm(options?: { dismissChanges: boolean }) where if dismissChanges is true, the form will not ask for confirmation when already modified.

JS API – triggerLogic function

This method allows forcing the logic re-evaluation when e.g. some custom asynchronous operation finishes (e.g. some data fetch) and logic should be reevaluated.

Designer – Add tooltips on hover

In the designer some dropdowns got tooltips showing the whole value of available options on hover, especially useful if long names are used with a similar beginning, e.g. when selecting a section or a workflow status in logic.

Add thousand separator setting to number fields

You can now choose to display or not display a thousand separator on numeric and currency fields.

Add multiline text field max length setting and character count indicator

You can now define the maximum number of characters permitted in multiline text fields and also enable an automatic character count on those fields.

External access – improved security and rate limiting

Our custom auth is now more secure by more closely checking what a user is allowed to do in a given external flow (anon, collab, external share etc.) minimizing the risk of exposing unwanted data. Limiting the number of possible retries in OTP scenarios.

Set expand/collapse section icon colour to match configured section icon colour

When using collapsable sections their expand/collapse icon colour now matches the defined section colour.

We introduced a new Header/Footer widget that can be used on forms to speed up the design process. The widget supports a number of settings including the text for the header, subheader, images and a description. Its configuration can also be easily copied and reused across forms.

Expose Workflow History widget to BI

The form workflow history has been exposed for use within Sintel BI. In an upcoming update to Sintel BI, it will be extended to permit the display of the workflow history on Sintel BI dashboards.

Switch from sending Graph emails to Postmark

To improve our email delivery mechanism we have moved from using the Graph API to using Postmark for sending emails. More details can be found here: Sintel Apps Email Delivery

Emails – allow custom email configuration for clients using their own shared mailbox

Customers can now define a custom emails address to send emails from. More details can be found here: Custom Emails

Designer – allow editing settings even if they are disabled

Some settings (e.g. Confirmation screens, workflow email notifications) allow to be edited (e.g. the confirmation HTML or notification email recipients, body etc.) even if the functionality itself is disabled in the form (e.g. workflow status notification or confirmation screen options are disabled) – allows easier config preparation without the need to activate functionalities before they are fully configured.

Tokens support in save confirmation screen

Confirmation screen HTML templates now support tokens like the notification emails do – allowing more context-aware confirmation screen data, e.g. You have successfully submitted the item: {{Title}}. Caution – data is taken from the contents of the form while it was being submitted, potential after save script changes will not be available. Special case: {{ID}} token, which will always be properly resolved.

May 2026 version 1.0.7

The May release is delivered over the air and is applied automatically, with no action required by customers. This release focuses on expanding SharePoint compatibility, enhancing workflow and history tracking capabilities, improving form design flexibility, refining user experience across fields and related lists, and introducing additional configuration options for administrators and developers.

SharePoint Calculated Field Support

Sintel Apps now supports existing SharePoint calculated fields directly within forms. Supported result types include Text, Number, Percentage, Currency, Date & Time, Date Only, and Boolean values. Calculated fields are always displayed as read-only and automatically update based on their SharePoint formulas. Calculated fields cannot be created from the App Designer. Only existing SharePoint calculated fields can be added to the app. Calculated field tokens are also not supported in email templates.

SharePoint Required Field Flexibility

Fields configured as required in SharePoint can now be set to read-only within forms. These fields continue to validate as required and can be populated through form logic, enabling more advanced automation scenarios. e.g. An Employee ID field may be configured as required in SharePoint to ensure every record contains a valid identifier. The field can now remain read-only on the form while being automatically populated by form logic or workflow actions, allowing validation requirements to be met without user input.

Internal Name Handling Improvements

Additional safeguards have been introduced when creating SharePoint lists named “Forms”. The platform now automatically applies an alternative internal naming convention to avoid conflicts with SharePoint system folders and preserve configuration version history.

Workflow History Display Options

New configuration options offer greater control over the presentation of workflow history. Administrators can now display:

  • Full workflow history
  • Actions only
  • Statuses only

These settings apply to both the workflow history panel and individually for workflow history widgets.

Workflow History Email Token

Email templates now support the new {{[workflowHistory]}} token, allowing workflow history information to be embedded directly into notification emails as a structured table.

Conversation Token Expansion

Support has been added for the {{Author}} token within conversations. This helps provide additional context during collaboration and review processes, especially when forms are updated or discussed by multiple users.

Field Change Detection API

The JavaScript API now supports field change tracking through the hasFieldChanged() method. For example, if a number field changes from 10 to 15, the method returns true the next time it is evaluated and records the new value. Subsequent evaluations return false until the field changes again, simplifying the implementation of reactive form logic and custom scripts.

Field Value Changed Logic Condition

A new Field Value Changed condition has been added to form logic, enabling actions to be triggered only when a field changes value. For example, if a field starts with a value of 100 and is changed to 150, the condition evaluates to true and updates its reference value to 150. It will not evaluate to true again until the field changes to a different value, such as 200. To ensure consistent behaviour, the Field Value Changed condition should be placed first in a condition group. In certain scenarios involving OR operators, later conditions may not be evaluated due to standard condition short-circuiting.

Form-Level Email Notification Control

Administrators can now disable workflow, sharing, and comment-related email notifications at the form level during testing or implementation phases. One-Time Password (OTP) emails remain unaffected to ensure external collaboration continues to function.

Related lists have been optimised for mobile devices, improving usability and responsiveness when viewing associated data on smaller screens.

Horizontal Scrolling Layout Support

Related lists and related libraries now support a new layout mode that enables horizontal scrolling. Administrators can choose between:

  • Fit to Width (default)
  • Single Row with Scroll

This provides significantly greater control over displaying large datasets with many columns.

Feature Availability Indicators

The designer now clearly identifies features that are unavailable under the current license, providing contextual explanations and reducing configuration confusion.

Calculated Formula Editor Improvements

Calculated formula properties now use a multi-line editor, making complex expressions easier to create, review, and maintain.

Spacer Widget

A new Spacer widget has been added to help designers create cleaner and more flexible form layouts. The widget can be used to introduce visual separation between form elements and sections, improving readability and form organisation. Optionally, designers can configure a single line of text with token support to display lightweight informational content directly within the spacer.

Updated Application Icons

Application icons have been refreshed to improve visual consistency across the platform.

Rich Text Image Pasting

Multi-line rich text fields now support direct image pasting, improving content creation and reducing reliance on external image uploads.

Single Choice Dropdown Improvements

Single-choice dropdown fields now automatically expand when users click anywhere within the editable area, creating a more intuitive selection experience. Height consistency issues have also been resolved.

Hide Stepper Buttons – Number Field Configuration

A new configuration option allows administrators to hide the numeric input up/down controls (chevrons) for number fields.

Dropdown fields now clear search value on blur
